My students are 6th-8th grade special education students with a variety of disabilities from Autism to Down Syndrome. They require specialized instruction to help them make meaningful connections in all academic areas. My students are very literal and concrete in their approach to learning. Having hands-on materials really engages my students in learning. As a class we are very interested in science! We love to conduct science experiments and explore science topics. An upcoming topic that is very exciting is cells, both plant and animal cells. My students are looking forward to learning about what makes up the human body. My students come from low socioeconomic homes. Many of my students are learning English as a second language. Most of the students in my class receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
