My students are from an impoverished neighborhood in Philadelphia. They come from all kinds of unconventional home arrangements, and to some, our school is their only safe haven. I would like to think that my art room/class adds color to some otherwise bleak circumstances and gives the students a creative outlet for expressing themselves.
