With new restrictions around viral safety, students are unable to use our lab equipment without including bacterial/viral filters. We are adding viral filters to add safety to their investigations into human physiology. When students return to the physical classroom, adding the bacterial viral filters will allow them to have the opportunity to investigate lung function. Without them, we would have to discontinue the lab. In addition, once spirometers are safe to use, by adding a few pieces of equipment, students will now be able to perform investigations into the relationship between the ventilatory system and the cardiovascular system. These will be new experiences for our students and increase the number of authentic investigations they can do.
