Teaching a third grade special education class is not always an easy task; especially when it is being done in an area that is plagued with economic hardship and in a school that is not very well funded. For many of my students the economic disadvantages that they face are not the only hurdle that they must overcome to receive an education and the lack of support at home only compounds the problem. This creates a situation where the classroom is the only place in their lives where learning occurs.
