I put this picture up of me and Dr. Cash because this was one of the defining moments of how I became the teacher I am today. Were you ever told that each snow flake is unique in it's own way? I'm from the south, I never really believed it till I moved to Michigan and actually saw it with my own eyes. I mention that story because every student in every school in the world is unique. I learned from Dr. Cash and Mr. Rick Wormeli (many others to) how to engage my students in the materials at different levels. Then I was introduced to a program called Kagan. This taught me structures on how to have the students communicate effectively. This completely changed the culture of my classroom. At the start of this year, I attended a training titled Brain Friendly Learning. Guess who was the presenter? Dr. Kagan!!! At this training I learned about the brain and what it needs to perform effectively. This is how I teach.
