I teach Geography and US History. Both courses are given in Spanish as part of the Spanish Immersion Program where I teach. An important part of the learning process in my class is the understanding of the immigrant experience within American History. These GPS handheld navigators will allow my students to achieve several things: mastery of GPS technology, understanding the basic concepts of Geography, and connect the concepts of culture-geography-history. Sharing your heritage (geographical coordinates) will help the class to achieve a better multicultural approach to each other. As a nation of immigrants, we need to understand our past, and from where we come from, to better address our differences and work together to achieve a more tolerant and peaceful coexistence.
