Because many of our students come from impoverished families, they have little to no access of technology. My goal for these iPads is three-fold: for students to learn digital literacy and citizenship, set students on a possible career path involving video/audio/technology, use technology for students to better understand mathematical concepts. This set of iPads will begin to launch our video technology program for our high school students. Students will use Apple's iMovie, Photos, and Garageband apps to learn basic video, photo, and sound editing techniques. Digital media is a rapidly growing professional field. Giving these students a foundation to build on moving forward will help open the door to various college and career opportunities. Also, as a math teacher, I will have the opportunity to use these iPads in my math classes as well. Students will be able to access various apps, websites and videos to learn, research, and experience various math concepts that they may be struggling with. Having had the opportunity of using iPads in the classroom inthe past, I know that students can greatly benefit from technology in the classroom. I am very excited to bring this opportunity to our school, and I know our students are excited to get started. This class was in the top choices for elective credits for this school year. Please help us make this a productive class for these students for this year, and years to come.
