Research indicates that 80% of high school students are not enrolled in music but are directly involved in music such as performing, creating, or simply listening to music. Many of this "other 80%" may feel reluctant to enroll in a music class like band or choir because of the performance nature or structure of the curriculum. The students who are enrolled in the Digital Music and Technology class are students who have the desire to create music or learn more about how music interacts with the digital world. These students are artists that will create outstanding music on a professional level and display their art for the world to hear. My school is a Title 1 school and my students simply can not afford the basic materials it would need for their success in creating music in a technological setting.
