We are part of the Honors program at HMS in Northridge, CA. We are a culturally diverse classroom & most students live outside of the immediate school neighborhood & many live in low socio-economic areas. They are all creative, hard working, and sincerely want to learn. However, the majority of these students do not have access to computers at home, as well as in the classroom. Computers in our classroom are nonexistent which makes it difficult to inspire their quest for learning the 21st century way. When they are exposed to computers, the students are literary glued to the screen & are amazed with how they are learning new material, and how learning can be fun. They become excited, engaged, & inspired to learn. They actually look forward to the next class with computers. But too often, they are disappointed when it is not available. These students are so creative and hard working, that I inspire to continue with their quest for knowledge.
