The school I work for is filled with high standard academics, creative problem solving, and smiles on student's and teacher's faces. Some of them actually look forward to escaping their home lives and going to school all day. I went to school aspiring to be creative, but scared to show creativity and express myself. I held onto one thing as a student that felt alone in the world, and that one thing is art. Visual Arts can be powerful. This power saved my life and it is my duty to expose as many forms of art as possible on a budget, and ultimately; possibly save a life, or lives with the power of art. Once, as a troubled teen myself, it would have been nice to look at art and say "you know what? I am going to use art to scream and push my way into a passion. Then I am going to give that to others".
