My sixth grade students live on the edge of Philadelphia near the Cheltenham Township border. Though our school is a safe space, they have had a number of teachers quit on them in the middle of the year, in the past few school years. This has led to a lack of or no science courses in the past years. They are so excited to have a hands on experience with science this year, We have received a bunch of new equipment from the district (as the school is in its first year of having a 6th and 7th grade). And our students are thrilled to be involved in experiments and the scientific method. Though we have some equipment, we will be exploring cells and the building blocks of life later this year, and we do not have microscopes. Our students would be eternally grateful to have the opportunity to act like "real" scientists and explore the differences between plant, fungus and animal cells in a lab setting.
