My project is beneficial to the age group that I teach. Fifth graders can be challenged by the transition from elementary to middle school. Flexible seating options can build relationships among students, while making them comfortable in the education setting. Earlier this year, I introduced yoga mats and “wiggle seats” in my classroom. I witnessed the dramatically positive impact of this flexible seating upon my students’ educational experiences. The opportunity to “sit on the floor” became something every student wanted to enjoy, even those not in my classroom. Based upon this experience, I would like to implement more flexible seating in my classroom. Flexible seating will enable greater mobility and innovative instructional possibilities. An associated Chromecast capability will enable students to broadcast their screens to our classroom projector screen, as well as my own laptop, as I circulate the classroom among my students in their flexible seating options.
