The purchase an external computer mouse will help to eliminate frustration and allow students more time with technology. Students enjoying having tech time as a station rotation during Math and Reading. These laptops are getting older and the internal mouse pads are not always reliable. This can be very frustrating to 3rd graders. We use laptops to do review games, study spelling words, read books and for some students have books read to them. At the 3rd grade level many students this is their first time using a laptop and the built in mouse can be tricky to navigate. Add to that a mouse that doesn't always work and it becomes an activity that many can no longer do independently.
