Many of our families need help over the weekend to provide meals for their children, so my school has partnered with community organizations to support our families with weekly food backpacks. However, we are seeking to provide equitable food backpacks for our families. As it stands the food backpacks consist of canned ravioli, canned green beans, canned soup, pop tarts, apple sauce, Ramen noodles, and macaroni and cheese. These food items are not commonly used by our Latino families, and they have expressed this concern to us, so we want to honor their request! Our goal is to send home food backpacks with foods that our families know and love, like tortillas, dry beans, rice, and masa. We are gracious to our community for helping us provide basic needs for our families!
