We are in a large school district that has been severely hit by budget cuts. We have very few supplies and there is definitely no money to be spent on updating, fixing, or getting new technology in the classrooms. Most of my students come from homes where they don't have computers because they can't afford them. They are 5th graders who will be going to middle school next year and will be expected to know how to do research on the Internet, use word processing programs to write papers, and create presentations using technology. I want to provide them with the opportunity to learn how to do these things. The class is very enthusiastic and sweet. They enjoy being active learners and are excited at the prospect of learning how to use technology.
