With a poverty rate above 30%, Buffalo is the third poorest city in America. Many of my students do not have books in their homes. Unfortunately, despite these obstacles, they are still expected to achieve at the same levels as their suburban peers. Most of the students in my school qualify for free or reduced lunches. I am proud to be a reading teacher in the Buffalo Public Schools but there is much work to be done! We need your help to make a solid educational foundation for our students!
