The compasses that I am requesting would help my students perform the constructions to reinforce their understanding of the theorems learned in their geometry class. It is hard for the students to understand how to bisect a segment or angle, when they do not have the tools necessary to do so. With the compasses, the students will also learn how to circumscribe a circle about a triangle, inscribe a circle in a triangle and other common constructions that most schools are performing in their classrooms. I hope that you give my students the opportunity to do perform the same type of constructions. The protractors will help my students learn to measure angles and verify theorems, such as the "Triangle-Angle-Sum Theorem" and "Alternate Interior Angle Theorem".
