My students live in Charlotte, NC in an impoverished community. I serve at a Title 1 school with a 100% poverty rate (all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch). Although these students do not live in the best environment, they show me resilience by showing up to school everyday with a positive attitude. Their ability to persevere inside and outside of our daily lessons motivates and inspires me on a daily basis. Because our school is old, we do not have the best learning environment. Moldy ceilings and floors, lack of classroom furniture, and bugs galore greet our students every single day. BUT despite these conditions, I try my hardest to make my classroom a bright, fun and welcoming place for my students to spend their 8 hours in. I am so thankful of Donors Choose for giving me an avenue to advocate for my students through donations from amazing sponsors like you!
