Our public charter school serves grades PK-2 and is located in a largely impoverished community where over 55 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Due to the population we serve, we have witnessed firsthand the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the socio-emotional development and academic growth of many students – particularly early childhood and elementary-aged students. As the school counselor, I am requesting play-based learning materials to help meet the needs of young learners. Additionally, I have added items that address the various needs of our learners such as noise cancelling headphones to help students who struggle with overstimulation or sensory processing.
