My students need to move around the classroom, work and communicate openly and collaboratively, while fostering creativity and critical thinking skills. We need a variety of seating, including a Buckwheat filled Bolster, a set of six Hedgehog Balancing Pods and an Alphabetter Stand-Up Desk. When you walk into our current classroom, you see a traditional rows of metal desks facing the front of the classroom. Today’s classroom environment is flexible, collaborative, and engaging. It’s differentiated, focused, and fun for students. My students will be able to make a CHOICE on how they are going to learn in the classroom. Students with autism get stuck on a routine but by having different options in the classroom it will give them choices. Incorporating novelty and excitement into our academic activities can be the best way to keep my students' attention. They will be able to discover new ways of learning and learn what fits them best.
