My students love to read! In order to continue to do so with great enjoyment and intensity, we need a leveled classroom library. In our classroom, we enjoy reading independently, reading with each other and having great discussions around our favorite parts of stories and how it relates to our lives. We compare and contrast familiar stories, we love researching topics of interest and we have developed deep understanding of strategic reading actions through relentless conferring and feedback. Moving forward, my students need more individualized reading opportunities. When we study a genre we need to be able to access multiple text within the genre at varied reading levels. With this new classroom library, my students will be able to read on their independent reading level. Students will be able to explore books that interest them. Reading feeds the imagination and the only way to increase reading ability is to read more! My students really love independent reading time and this project will only help them become successful readers!
