I am forever indebted to return the love, nurturing, discipline, and education that was brought forth to me as a child! Our scholars come from one of the highest poverty stricken & crime infested neighborhoods in the Washington, DC area, but come to school each day with a smile and willingness to learn. Some more than others...who come with heads hanging low, praying and wishing for a better present circumstance, which trickles over into their studies. I service students who require extensive one-on-one collaboration, suffer severely with poor test scores, who've faced many instances of abuse, neglect, and trauma, but these kids still manage to yearn for success and overcome obstacles in their daily lives. In being a Title I school, our scholars aren't often allowed the same opportunity as others. My goal is to shift the mental norm that has been driven into their young and shapeable minds! #RocketsTHRIVE!
