Students in low income schools often tend to struggle with reading. Most will not be reading at their intended reading age. This is just for simple fiction books - history books become an even greater challenge. Students tend to struggle with content reading because it is outside of their traditional vernacular. By giving students history books written by various authors in different styles, students will be able to expand their vocabulary, gain insight on areas that interest them, and strengthen their reading skills. Students will thrive when they are able to read what truly interests them. These books will be checked out of the class library to read at home and other times. The tissues, lysol wipes, and hand sanitizer insure a clean environment for students to learn.
