My students are incredible young people. I have 150 eighth graders of all levels, backgrounds, and histories. Each student brings his or her own personality to the room, and we celebrate that. As you can imagine, 8th grade is a hard year to get motivated to read, but students have really started to shine in this aspect of our classroom. They are eager to learn when the learning means something to their world. They are eager to interact when the interaction means something. They are eager to make a difference when challenged to change the world.
