A number of my students love this book, The Hate U Give," and have said I need to add it book to my curriculum. My students can relate to the protagonist and her story, for they face police brutality and injustice all the time. I am proud to offer this text as a choice novel during free-reading time. Until I can obtain funds to purchase books through my school, I will use these to build a small classroom library of choice novels. My school does not have a library, nor access to paper books, and I believe it is essential for young people to have access to great young adult novels.
