Kindergarten, for most of my students, is their first experience of school. Our school was recently taken over by the state as a "turn around" plan and had the school not been given this opportunity, it was likely to close. Unfortunately, the state in which our classroom was left in and the materials available to my students are quite reflective of the need for the turn around. I want their first classroom to be a warm, inviting place where learning is accessible to everyone. I want this classroom to be a place where social and environmental pressures are not a source of stress or distraction. Most importantly, I want my students and their families have a place that they feel safe, valued, and proud to attend.

About my class
