One of the keys to get my middle school readers 'hooked' on reading is to provide them with books that they can and want to read. From using mentor texts in the classroom to granting students access to fiction books that have realistic characters, readable and convincing text and non-fiction books such as magazines and graphic novels that can hook students on reading. This is my second year in 6th grade. I have been relentlessly trying to build a classroom library by not filling it with books simply to fill space. Resources are becoming more difficult to tougher to come by and no resource is more important to my students' success than access to high quality and engaging books. The purpose of this grant is to create a community of readers. Your grateful donation will help give my students the opportunity to read and see more.
