We are safe and healthy! All of our funding this year went to purchasing Personal Protective Equipment for our staff and students. However, this means that there is no funding for what I need in my classroom. My very old and outdated Elmo is no longer functioning and I am not able to project how to solve math problems on paper anymore. "I can't see Ms. Hao! Move your computer to the left! No to the right There you go! Now we can see it!" These are the typical things my students will tell me during our virtual math lesson. My math students have a hard time seeing what I am writing on the board. Right now, my best option is to position my laptop to face my whiteboard, while I write in huge letters and numbers for all to see. We are doing our best with what we have but I know that it could be a lot better through the use of a functioning document camera. We have a motivated group of English learners that excel in the math mainstream classroom. Some of them have expressed that they want to be engineers or accountants someday. Help me to give them the best view possible by providing a focused and clear lens to basic math. These math concepts will provide them with the opportunity to achieve their other goals! Our next unit after the holidays is slope intercept and graphing. I know that this document camera will make all the difference in the students being able to meet their content learning goals. Mahalo!
