My kids all live and go to school in the Boogie Down Bronx or as they would say "El Bronx". Many of my students are recent immigrants and ELL students. They come from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, but most are of Dominican and Mexican heritage. They have faced and continue to encounter all kinds of adversity but show up each day with renewed hope and lots (and lots) of energy! What I love most about them is their willingness to try new things, to trust me, and their ability to crack me up (even when I know I shouldn't laugh).
