Students love an opportunity to make a choice. It teaches them responsibility and independence. Allowing students to choose the best place for them to work in their classroom teaches both of these skills. Students must know how to make a good choice that will ensure they are able to learn to the best of their ability. Not only will allowing students to choose their seats teach them responsibility, but it will also provide opportunities for them to be actively engaged throughout their day. Students can easily collaborate with peers, share ideas, and move around to help them keep their focus. Stools and floor cushions make it much more convenient and easier for students to choose their spot to work around the classroom.
