The students in my Grade 1 inclusion classroom are truly amazing! My class serves typical students, English Language Learners, and students with a range of learning needs including ADHD, autism, emotional challenges, intellectual and specific learning disabilities. My students are inquisitive and unique! They are members of a culturally diverse school community with an extended day, where 100% of the students participate in free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students struggle with anxiety, impulsivity, and self-regulation which impacts their academic learning and school community. They engage in movement, drama, and songs to identify feelings, take perspectives and develop compassion for each other.
