I teach at a low-income school in Louisiana and all of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch. In addition, we have a very high ESL population, so many of my students are not native English speakers. Many of my students come from single parent backgrounds. Some of my students are refugees. In short, they face a lot of hardships at a really young age. Despite these challenges my students face, they come to school eager to learn. For many of them, it is the only safe and stable environment they have ever known. Nevertheless, I have high expectations for these wonderful children and want to help them succeed in life. They are the best and deserve the very best!
