If you were to enter our classroom, you would hear students' voices as our classroom is student-centered. My students participate in center-based activities that focus on skills we are working on in our whole group instruction as well as skills my students need more practice with. Our school has also been chosen to become a STEAM school this year which will lead to more hands-on activities and projects. Having the flexible seating would enhance engagement as well as allow students to move more freely around the classroom. When students are comfortable, they are more likely to stay on task and retain more information. An uncomfortable student, is a distracted and unproductive student. Flexible seating increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. My plan would incorporate the wobble chairs at center rotations to improve comfort, engagement, and retention. The Flex-Space tables would allow students to spread out, work in a less confined area as well as participate in collaborative learning with their peers.
