Diversity is important because the world is changing every day. We must learn to accept and get along with people of all cultures, races, and religions in order to become productive citizens of the world. It is our job as “the village” to prepare our students for the real world, and the real world is a very diverse one. By using the requested items such as wikki stix, Celebrate Diversity, Mr Potato Head, and A Trip Around The World book set to have hands-on experiences and explore our world children will learn that differences are to be accepted and celebrated. It is my mission to help children feel good about themselves, their families, and their communities. Watching ladybugs and vegetables grow will allow children to see that in order for our environment to be sustainable we must work together and do our part. Also, by exposing children to differences, things that are unfamiliar, and experiences beyond their immediate lives they will be more accepting as they grow.
