My students are extremely diverse in cultural heritage and have a wide variety of challenges to face in their home and school life. Most of my students do not have the simple luxury of focusing exclusively on their educational careers, many work to help support their families or are caregivers for younger or elderly family members. Aside from this, a great population of my students have immigrated from Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Middle and South America. The challenges they have faced adapting to city life as well as learning the English language also greatly influence their desire for success. Each student brings rich cultural heritage to our classroom and contribution of new ideas.
