My students are opening a food truck park to practice real world financial literacy! With the rise in use of credit and debit cards on purchases, kids are seeing less and less tangible money transactions taking place; thus making it difficult for them to understand the concept of transferring money. I created this project to get (play) money in the hands of my students. For this project, I will split my students into 6 groups, and they will work together to develop their own food truck business. They will be granted play money to invest in their business, develop a marketing plan, and track and make purchases. Once their food truck is ready to open for business, they will use the cash registers to practice adding order totals and making change for their customers. By donating to our project, you will not only help to build financial literacy and real world skills, you will help foster an engaging lesson that my students are sure to never forget!
