Last year, my students helped conduct a study about active seating in the classroom. The data provided evidence that if students were allowed to move more as they worked, they were more actively engaged in their thinking and learning. As a result of this data, we purchased a classroom set of Therapy Balls for my class and they have been a dream come true! There has been improvements both academically and in adverse behaviors in the classroom setting. Your generous donations would grant my students the opportunity to replace the Therapy Balls, some of which have completely deflated beyond repair, with a more permanent form of active seating. Wiggle Chairs are more durable, yet offer the same benefits of Therapy Balls. Students are able to rock and move while working. These movements not only allow students with "fidgets" to release their energy and focus on the task at hand, it also develops them physically through the building of core strength. Our current Therapy Balls are very popular with the students and my current students are just as successful this year with the use of them. They are, however, very worn and five students are currently using chairs instead of Therapy Balls because they have deflated and need to be replaced. These Wiggle Chairs come with a lifetime warranty and are more compact and easily stored in our classroom so that we may continue to move throughout the day with other kinesthetic and STEAM activities which require space and movement.
