I teach 1st grade in a public school in San Antonio, Texas. I have created leaders in my classroom by following the 7 Habits of Happy kids by Sean Covey. Every day they are given opportunities to exhibit leadership. They synergize with peers to collaborate on projects which makes them excited to learn. I strive to bring in new, hands on lessons, integrated with technology to keep their interest and create excitement for knowledge. My students are excited to utilize iPads in the classroom to create projects, read books, and practice math and literacy skills in a fun and engaging way. I have students with special needs, students at risk, and students who are economically disadvantaged. Each one of my students love school and come ready to learn. Where interest lies, learning occurs. I want to give my students every opportunity to be successful.
