I want my students to be able to take responsibility and ownership of their own learning. Flexible seating options will allow students to work at their own pace, and it will allow them to choose where and how they complete their work. Many studies show that flexible seating increases student engagement because students are allowed to choose seating that works for them. Flexible seating will allow me to better meet the individual needs of my students. A carpet, small tables, and kneeling pads will be some of the critical flexible seating pieces in my classroom. These materials will allow students to work more comfortably which will help them grow.
