My students are truly compassionate people and would leap at the chance to help others. Scripted curriculum doesn't always allow for an investigation of diverse current events and the teaching of what it means to be a global citizen. The UNICEF Kid Power Band program will expose my students to the terrible reality of poverty today and encourages them to make a difference in the lives of others, one step at a time. My class is full of children who are constantly moving. Whether they're playing tag or tapping their feet, they are constantly full of energy. UNICEF Kid Power will provide my students with an excellent opportunity to learn about and help children just like them while moving! With UNICEF Kid Power, students will watch videos, close read articles and stories, and engage in multicultural activities and physical games in order to expand their knowledge of healthy living and eating. With these UNICEF Kid Power bands, my students have the chance to learn what it is like to be a global citizen, while improving their reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities at the same time!
