The awesome group of students I have the pleasure of learning with every day are in need of a tool to help intrigue their minds during our small group guided reading sessions. When reading leveled readers becomes dull, I see their faces become dull and the excitement of reading slowly decline. My students need experiences where they are able to dive right into learning. Giving kids opportunities for hands-on learning, instant feedback, and positive reinforcement are amazing ways to engage students. I can't wait to use the Eggspert during guided reading. Having students in small groups already will make using the Eggspert very manageable. Comprehension is an area that my class is working very hard on, and I know that introducing this tool to our routine will get them interested, keep them engaged, and build pride in their daily reading accomplishments. My 2nd graders attend school in a high poverty area of Omaha. They are full of energy and ready for new, fun, learning!
