My school is a Title 1 school where students are culturally diverse. About 80% of the students commute from an outlying area of 112 square mile to the campus. School data shows that the percentage of students who receive free and reduced priced meals continues to increase each year. Despite the fact that most of students are from low income high poverty status, they show their love for learning and are excited to do relevant and interesting activities in the lab. They are respectful and show classroom engagement. They enjoy doing hands-on activities. Likewise exposing them to various STEM inquiry based activities changed their learning perspectives. It provided them opportunity to work outside their comfortt zones, thus working hard to be college and career ready.
