Flex Seating and Supplies!
Funded Aug 3, 2023The flexible seating has completely transformed our classroom environment. With the new seating options, we've been able to introduce lessons on self-regulation and focus, encouraging students to choose spaces that help them learn best—whether that's in a cozy corner for independent reading or at a circle table for group work.
In our classroom, learning now looks more dynamic and engaging. Students move around, collaborate more easily, and are taking ownership of their space. The energy is positive, and students are more comfortable, which has led to increased focus during lessons.
Thanks to your generosity, our classroom is more flexible, comfortable, and conducive to learning. The difference has been remarkable!”

Funded Mar 30, 2023These new books have made a world of difference for our struggling readers. With these carefully selected texts, we've been able to introduce skills like identifying main ideas, analyzing character motivations, and building vocabulary—skills that are essential for improving literacy and comprehension.
In our classroom, reading has become more engaging and personalized. Students have the opportunity to choose books that meet them where they are, and that choice has motivated them to dive into reading with more confidence. We often have quiet reading time, where students are fully immersed in their books, followed by discussions that help deepen their understanding of the material.
Thanks to your support, our classroom is filled with energy and progress, as students are gaining the skills they need to become stronger readers.”

Funded Jan 10, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation! Our classroom library has been a game-changer for my classes. The new books have greatly contributed to our independent reading and have allowed us to explore new genres and perspectives that weren't accessible before.
When the books were first introduced, the students were thrilled, eagerly flipping through pages and discussing which books to read first...and also which books they ABSOLUTELY WOULD NEVER READ.. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN GET THAT BOOK MR LAMBERT??? But the good part about it is that we have books for every student.
Thanks to your support, they now have a wider range of texts to work with, pushing them to think critically and develop their own voices as readers and writers.”

Mr. Lambert

Funded Sep 29, 2022I cannot express enough gratitude for your generous donation towards these bookshelves for my students. We have been slowly building a safe and comfortable space in our classroom and your kindness has made a significant impact in providing that environment for them.
The next step is to fill them! As you can see from the pictures, we've been stocking the shelves but we still have a ways to go. I hope to give my students access to an array of literature that will broaden their horizons and further their education.
I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Your contribution has already helped create a brighter future for my students.”

BOOKS for Aspiring Literary Scholars!
Funded Sep 29, 2022This project is near and dear to me and I can't thank you enough for contributing to it. This selection of texts is not made up of some random books that I thought might be enjoyable for some students. Most of these books are what we refer to as "culturally responsive texts", meaning they represent the culture and background of my students. Most of the "traditional" texts that are featured in high school English curriculum across the US were not written by black and brown authors, nor do they highlight the stories of black and brown people. Getting a set of texts that were culturally responsive was particularly important to me because I want my students to see themselves within the stories they choose to explore.
Since we have supplemented our classroom library with these books, we've started doing "SSR Days", which stands for "Sustained and Silent Reading". The goal is to increase reading stamina by having students pursue books that they actually want to read. We start small, with just 5 minutes of sustained and silent reading, and then we gradually increase that amount of time until students are fully engaged for half the class, or even the entire class. We've had reading competitions where my classes compete with each other to see who can read the longest or the most.
Before, I've had to push reading on my students. Now, my students will casually browse the the texts on the shelves or ask me to recommend them a book. I have one student in particular who has been ferociously reading these books since they've arrived. She checks books out one at a time and has not only been reading them at school, but has been reading them with her dad and having a little book club at home.
This project is making a difference! It's not monumental, it's not universal, but it helped me get a few more students to embrace reading which is all I can ask for.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Lambert
