Konnichiwa! (Hello!) Wilson Elementary School (public school) offers Japanese to grades K-5 since 2008. I meet one grade level once every six days, and I teach approximately 500 students. All K-5 students are required to learn World Language (Japanese) during school hours. We learn how to speak and understand Japanese, as well as learn about the Japanese culture. After School Japanese classes are offered throughout the year based on the teachers' availability. Japanese Yoyo balloon booth is held at our school Fun Fair. High School students from Japan or Hawaii visit our campus every year to teach Japanese language and culture to my students. Your support is highly appreciated to help my students become global citizens and to keep my classroom environment stay authentic, as if they are in Japan!
