Hi, My name is Mr. Saltos and I am a mathematics teacher at JHS 189 in Queens, NY. I consider myself more of a math-enthusiast because I truly believe that mathematics is everywhere. It is this passion that I want to transfer to my students. Many of them believe that math is not useful, that it is boring and that they hate it. I want to change that. I want them to notice how solving a Rubik's cube helps them with problem-solving techniques, algorithms and perseverance. I want them to build structures that have some pretty neat mathematical properties such as a Sierpinski Carpet. I want them to read novels and other books that display mathematics in a different light. I hope that with your help in funding these various projects, I can accomplish my goal as an educator and bring mathematical joy to all my students.
