Like most first year teachers, I am building my classroom from the ground up. My hopes is to create an environment that fosters a sense of safety and respect. I want my students to understand that they are unique and want to provide them the opportunity to take charge of their own learning and make choices that will help them with both their social/emotional learning and their academic success. Flexible seating will remove the traditional desk seating in our classroom and allow us to make better use of the space we have while adopting greater student centered instruction. The various products selected will meet the a number of needs in the classroom; it will allow students to expend excess energy which will increase focus, give them a sense of control in their life as well as a sense of community.
