My students are third-grade English Language Learners who come from homes where there is only one parent as the caretaker and provider, leaving little time or financial resources for enriching their children's lives. They know very little about the internet. All my students have free breakfast and lunch at school every day. They are easily distracted and find it difficult to stay focused and motivated to learn. They need many visual aids to help understand new concepts for reading, writing, and math. My class includes students who are gifted children as well as those with learning disorders and Attention Deficit Disorder. Whatever their special gifts and abilities, they all would benefit from the use of the tablets. In spite of the lack of resources, they are all eager for an education.
