My students want the opportunity to create buttons so that they can express who they are on their school lanyards (all students are required to wear IDs). Many of them come from extremely poor families and they do not have the opportunity to buy the pins sold in retail stores. My students want to take the button making further than just a resource of the GSA, expanding it to the other clubs on our diverse campus. We have clubs representing Asian cultures, African Americans, Muslims, Christians, Music, etc. and it is the belief of my kiddos that they can help build a more positive and prideful school culture through providing these other clubs with buttons as well! Please help me help my kids fulfill their dream of creating buttons. It would mean the world to them, especially in a time where so much negativity is in the media. By allowing the students something to look forward to, and having a way to express themselves, they are able to shed some of the darkness they witness each day. Thank you so much for your consideration in our project!
