This easel will allow flexibility in my teaching. Currently, I have to teach using only the wall whiteboard. This is not always the most convenient way to teach, when my students are gathered around the carpet. The flat surface is hard to access at times, and I have to constantly stand up to reach for materials. With this easel, I will be able to teach closer to my students as we learn together. Being close to my students will help me keep a closer eye on them as they share their thinking and interact with each other. I will be able to read aloud from big books as my students sit on the carpet and interact with the story. Also, this easel will help me organize materials that I may need to teach my lessons. I will be able to keep materials like markers, charts, magnetic letters, and other resources at my fingertips as I teach to my students. In addition, this easel will be ideal for center time. My students can gather around the easel to read stories, create spelling words, or works of art as they learn to collaborate with each other. Acquiring this easel will support the literacy work we are doing in our school. In order to create a closer learning community in my classroom, it is very important that we work close together. This easel will be a great asset in creating a close, focused, and positive learning community.
