I am so excited to launch reading workshop this year! I would love to be able to create a space where my students can explore reading together! My goal is to build life-long learners, lovers of literature, and creative thinkers. The novels that are included all tie into our historical fiction unit of study. In this unit we will be using the mentor text "Home of the Brave", by Katherine Applegate to model the strategies needed to navigate this complex genre. My students deserve a classroom that they are excited to come work in each day. The beanbag chairs, rug and stools will provide a comfortable place for students to actively work in book clubs setting goals, jotting ideas in their readers notebooks, collaborating on projects and sharing their learning with each other.
